Colorado is a state that always seems to have something new to discover. From the Rocky Mountains and scenic mountain roads to growing cities, small towns, local restaurants, and unique businesses, there is an incredible variety of places and experiences to explore.

Colorado Business Finder started with a simple idea: to discover and support local businesses. But as we explored more of Colorado, we quickly realized that businesses are connected to the places and communities around them.

The places where businesses are located — along with the landmarks, attractions, and interesting spots nearby — can be just as important in bringing people to an area. That’s why we love discovering businesses, places, and landmarks throughout Colorado.

We’re always curious about what’s around the next corner, and we love sharing what we discover with others.

Discover Local Businesses

Small and locally owned businesses are an important part of Colorado’s communities. You can find everything from independent coffee shops and restaurants to boutiques, professional services, artists, breweries, outdoor businesses, and specialty shops.

Some businesses have been part of their communities for generations, while others are brand new and just getting started. Exploring local businesses is a great way to experience a community beyond its main tourist attractions.

When we travel around Colorado, we often come across a business that catches our attention. If the surroundings are clear and we can film without capturing people in a way that could affect their privacy, we may take a short video from the outside and share it on our social media pages. That’s why we often choose to film early in the morning or at times when it’s less crowded.

We’ve been asked a few times why we don’t film inside businesses. The answer is simple — we have a different approach to the way we showcase Colorado businesses.

We want to highlight as many Colorado businesses as possible. There are already plenty of people creating content focused on what’s inside a restaurant or store — the food, the products, the decor, and the shopping experience. We want to do something a little different and give businesses visibility simply by showing people that they’re there.

And we don’t charge businesses for these videos. If we were filming inside, ordering food, shopping, or spending significant time at each location, the cost of creating the content would be much higher. By keeping our videos simple and filming from the outside, we can visit and highlight many more businesses throughout Colorado — completely free of charge.

And we’ve seen that a simple video can make a difference. We’ve heard from people who saw one of our videos and then called a restaurant to make a reservation. Others have told us they lived nearby but had never heard of a particular business and were now planning to visit. For us, that’s exactly what this is about — helping people discover local businesses they might otherwise have overlooked.

Discover Colorado Places

Colorado offers an incredible variety of landscapes and communities. The mountains are an obvious highlight, but the state also has forests, lakes, rivers, open spaces, high plains, canyons, small mountain towns, and vibrant cities.

You don’t always have to plan a major road trip, either. A short drive can lead to a new trail, a scenic overlook, a historic downtown, or a small town you’ve never visited before.

We love visiting places we’ve seen before, but most of all, we love discovering new ones. And wherever we go, we take plenty of photos and videos — especially me, Carrie. I’m a little bit of a maniac when it comes to photographing and filming Colorado! There are just so many beautiful and amazing places to see, and I always want to capture them.

Discover Colorado Landmarks

Colorado is home to some truly recognizable landmarks. The Flatirons, Red Rocks, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and the Royal Gorge are just a few examples.

But some of the most interesting landmarks aren’t necessarily the most famous. Colorado is full of unusual statues, historic buildings, old mining structures, giant sculptures, murals, bridges, and other places that tell a story about the community around them.

Part of the fun is finding them.

One example is the Muffler Man in Longmont. It’s certainly not as famous as the Flatirons or Red Rocks, but when we posted a video of it on social media, we were surprised by how many people shared memories of seeing it many years ago. We love reading comments like these and hearing people’s stories — it’s wonderful to know that something we discovered and shared can bring back memories and reconnect people with places from their past.

We don’t have a big travel plan every time we head out. Sometimes we simply get in the car, take a different road, stop somewhere we’ve never been, and see what we find. And that’s often when we discover the most interesting places!

We’ll share the businesses we come across, the places we visit, the landmarks we find, the views that make us stop and take a picture, and the little things that might otherwise go unnoticed. Some will be famous, some will be hidden gems, and some might be places you’ve driven past a hundred times without knowing the story behind them.
